May Blooms for Small Business and Entrepreneurs

Charlotte is no stranger to entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation. The chamber is working with the business community, local government, higher education institutions and other stakeholders to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures entrepreneurs and further stimulates our creative economy.

In May, Engage Charlotte, the chamber’s young professionals, gets in on the entrepreneurial action with “Start-Up Charlotte: How the Queen City is Empowering Entrepreneurs and Innovators” on May 16. Panelists include Dan Roselli of Packard Place, Manoj Govindan of Bank of America/Merrill Lynch and Curtis Watkins of CLT Joules with Stoney Sellars of the Charlotte City Council Business Advisory Committee moderating. Register at charlottechamber.com/events.

In April, we launched our new entrepreneurial programming and a creativity and innovation series. The Entrepreneurial Platform launch included our first-ever Entrepreneurship Lab with interactive sessions designed to educate entrepreneurs, intrapraneurs and those who aspire to be on topics such as human resources, do-it-yourself bookkeeping, legal issues and branding. Keep an eye on our events calendar for the next installment in the series. The Creative Crowdshare series focuses on developing the Democratic National Convention Creative Hub. Plan to join us for the next session on June 20.

Also watch our events calendar for our Access to Capital event – “Financing for Entrepreneurs and Growing Businesses” – coming up in August. Attendees will learn about Small Business Administration loans and microfinancing options and have an opportunity to talk with a variety of financial lenders. The Access to Capital series has been developed to help close the gap between businesses and financial lending institutions.

Contact Rod Garvin at 704.378.1350 or rgarvin@charlottechamber.com if you have questions about these programs or are interested in branding and promotional opportunities to these audiences.

In honor of National Small Business Week, we're launching Power Up Entrepreneurs on May 26. This contest will offer a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect with members of the chamber's Board of Directors. Watch our weekly newsletter for contest details!
