The Charlotte Chamber Young Professionals (CCYPs) will host its fourth annual Young Professional Awards, The YPs, on May 26, 2016 at NASCAR Hall of Fame. The YPs honor young professionals between 21 and 39 years of age, who are selected from a competitive and diverse pool of candidates in the following categories: Young Professional Newcomer, Nonprofit Leader, Educator, Public Servant, Business Leader and Entrepreneur. One finalist will be recognized as The Young Professional of the Year.

ELIGIBILITY

1. nominee/applicants/Applicants must be an employee or owner of a Charlotte Chamber member organization.
2. Must be able to attend The YPs event on May 11, 2017.
3. Must be between 21 and 39 years of age on May 11, 2017
4. nominee/applicants/Applicants must not have previously received a Charlotte Chamber Young Professional Award.
5. Previous finalists are eligible to reapply or be re-nominated after two (2) years (e.g. 2015 finalists will be eligible for The YPs in 2017).

AWARDS and CRITERIA

Young Professional Newcomer
The YP Newcomer honors an individual who has worked and lived in the Charlotte area for less than three (3) years and has already made significant strides in his or her profession and contributions to the larger community. The nominee/applicant/applicant is regarded by their peers and colleagues as a future leader that has already made a professional mark and a positive impact in a limited amount of time.

Young Professional Educator
The YP Educator honors an individual who is a dedicated teacher, professor or administrator who has made a tremendous impact in the educational institution and community in which they serve. The nominee/applicant/applicant not only contributes to the academic success of their students, but also helps to prepare them for a successful life as productive citizens in our society.

Young Professional Public Servant
The YP Public Servant is a government employee or elected official who provides exemplary service to the citizens of Charlotte-Mecklenburg. This individual advocates for the greater good of the community and rises above partisan divisions with a sense of fairness and integrity. Beyond their governmental work, the nominee/applicant serves the community through their passion and commitment to civic causes.

Young Professional Entrepreneur
The YP Entrepreneur honors an individual who is a founder or co-founder with majority ownership of a start-up and/or entrepreneurial enterprise. The company must be headquartered in Charlotte and have been in business for at least two years (24-months) or more. The nominee/applicant has demonstrated visionary leadership and has contributed to the development of Charlotte’s entrepreneurial community, while also making civic responsibility a core business practice.

Young Professional Nonprofit Leader
The YP Nonprofit Leader honors an individual who has exemplified leadership in the social and civic arena. The nominee/applicant is an employee of a nonprofit organization with 500 employees or less, and is a proven leader of people and/or projects. This individual has supported and led causes outside of their professional role to help enhance the overall Charlotte community.

Young Professional Business Leader - Small to Midsized Company
The YP Business Leader honors an individual that has excelled professionally in the private sector at a for-profit organization with less than 500 employees. The nominee/applicant has established themselves as a valuable asset to their organization and industry. The individual is also a civic leader whose contributions align with the chamber’s mission to connect, innovate and grow opportunity for all who do business in Charlotte.

Young Professional Business Leader - Large Enterprise
The YP Business Leader honors an individual that has excelled professionally at a large for-profit or not-for-profit enterprise with 500 or more employees. The nominee/applicant has established themselves as a valuable asset to their organization and industry. The individual is also a civic leader whose contributions align with the chamber’s mission to connect, innovate and grow opportunity for all who do business in Charlotte.
