To survive and thrive in 2009, we need to pull together, the unemployed and the employed. Working Charlotte is a new magazine and Web presence dedicated to helping recently displaced Charlotte professionals find job opportunities. Armed with four innovative solutions, the Working Charlotte team is engaging Charlotte professionals in extending themselves on behalf of recently displaced professionals. The Working Charlotte movement is fueled by committed citizens empowered to intervene on the behalf of displaced professionals.

Growing up, we were taught that if we got a good education and worked hard, we would have a long and prosperous career. However, ripples from the struggling economy reverberate through the professional community. The economy continues to force corporations to release skilled professionals into the ranks of the unemployed.

The rules for maintaining a long and prosperous career have changed and resilience is the new competitive advantage. Without our intervention, fewer job opportunities in the Charlotte area will result in brain drain, a large scale emigration of Charlotte’s talented professionals searching elsewhere for better opportunities.

Working Charlotte was created specifically to facilitate job opportunities for displaced employees that are active volunteers in the community. Working Charlotte is more than a magazine, it’s a movement!
