German aerial platform builder opens
North American headquarters
Teupen Maschinenbau GmbH of Germany has selected Charlotte for its North American headquarters, service and spare parts operations. Newly formed Teupen USA, Inc. recently leased a 10,000 sq. ft. industrial building at 10701 Southern Loop Boulevard in southwest Charlotte. The company will launch operations with 10 employees and expects headcount to grow to 20 in the next 18 to 24 months.
Jay Vaughn and Tripp Alexander of Coldwell Banker Commercial MECA represented the building owner in lease negotiations.
Teupen is a world leader in the design and manufacture of track-mounted aerial work platforms used in height-access applications ranging from tree trimming to maintenance of large industrial facilities and building interiors such as office tower atriums. The company's platforms offer unique capabilities, in particular precise access to work areas, operating stability and portability over multiple surfaces including sand, lawns, uneven pavement and any kind of interior flooring.
"Charlotte is a location that provides all the factors Teupen needs for further growth," says U.S. President and CEO Roderik Wiedemeier. "Low operating costs, a large and productive workforce, very comprehensive infrastructure and an international airport make Charlotte very attractive."
The Charlotte Chamber and North Carolina Department of Commerce assisted Teupen with various aspects of the project, including city analysis and industrial space search.
