Electrolux to consolidate North American
headquarters in Charlotte, bring 738 jobs

Governor Beverly Perdue announced today that Electrolux will consolidate its North American corporate headquarters in Charlotte.  The consolidation will encompass most Electrolux U.S. entities.

Stockholm-based Electrolux Group is a global leader in household and professional appliances, including refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, ranges, air conditioners and vacuum cleaners sold under the Electrolux, AEG-Electrolux, Eureka and Frigidaire brands, among others.  In 2008, Electrolux Group had net sales of US $15.9 billion and 55,000 employees.

Governor Perdue confirmed that North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee approved earlier today a Job Development Investment Grant to support the Electrolux consolidation and growth. Electrolux will create in Charlotte a minimum of 738 jobs with an annual payroll that exceeds $60 million, excluding benefits.

Electrolux will locate to the Fifth Third Bank building at 10200 David Taylor Drive in University Research Park, a 215,990 sq. ft. office facility.  Barney Earles and Mark Herpel of CB Richard Ellis Charlotte represented the company.  Fifth Third was represented by Brian Brtalik and Parker Melvin, also of CB Richard Ellis.

Electrolux will invest $8.3 million for building changes and business personal property in the new headquarters and will potentially invest more in the future to accommodate growth.

The Charlotte Chamber worked closely with several partners in bringing Electrolux to Charlotte.  The Charlotte Regional Partnership generated the lead and initial company contact. The North Carolina Department of Commerce, North Carolina Community College System, Mecklenburg County, City of Charlotte and Duke Energy were instrumental in proposing competitive incentives packages.
