Husqvarna finalizes headquarters plans
for Charlotte, adds 160 jobs

North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue announced today that Husqvarna will consolidate its North American corporate headquarters in Charlotte.

Based in Sweden, the Husqvarna Group is the world's largest producer of chainsaws, lawn mowers and other gasoline-powered garden equipment such as trimmers and leaf blowers. The group is also one of the world's largest producers of garden tractors and a leading manufacturer of cutting equipment and diamond tools for the construction and stone industries.

At a press conference in Husqvarna’s current Statesville Road facility, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Dale Carroll confirmed that North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee approved today a Job Development Investment Grant to support the consolidation. Husqvarna will create 160 new North Carolina jobs in addition to the approximately 160 positions at the company’s existing Professional Products Division in Charlotte, which is being merged with the Consumer Products Division currently in Augusta, Georgia. Charlotte competed with South Carolina for the consolidated headquarters project.

Husqvarna brings not only new jobs to Charlotte but an investment of approximately $8.25 million in new taxable property. The company is in advanced discussions with Beacon Partners for approximately 100,000 sq. ft. at Harris Corners Corporate Park, Exit 18 I-77 north, and expects to finalize negotiations in the near future.

The Charlotte Chamber worked closely with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte in securing Husqvarna’s commitment to Charlotte and North Carolina.
