Clariant adds 50 jobs at North American
headquarters in Charlotte
Specialty chemicals manufacturer Clariant has announced that its Pigments and Additives business units will move from Rhode Island to Charlotte. As a result 50 new full-time positions will be added at the company’s North American headquarters on 4000 Monroe Road.
The new jobs will be a mix of sales, marketing, customer service, logistics/supply chain, and R&D /laboratory positions. Approximately 30 employees in Rhode Island will be offered transfers to Charlotte; the rest of the positions will be filled through local hiring. Employee transfers from Rhode Island could begin as early as next month and are expected to be complete by the end of September.
Clariant currently has 200 employees in Mecklenburg County and has operated at 4000 Monroe Road for more than 50 years. The company is recognized as the oldest continuously operating foreign-owned company in Charlotte. Globally, Clariant has 10 different business units, of which 7 have significant operations in the USA: Paper, Textiles, Masterbatches, Oil & Mining Mining Services, Pigments, Additives, and Industrial & Consumer Specialties.
Clariant’s Monroe Road facility will undergo a major up fit to provide the laboratory and office space that the relocating operations and staff will require.
The Charlotte Chamber worked closely with Clariant on this project.
