Davidson Chocolate Co. to Open in Dilworth

Davidson Chocolate Co., a family-owned, full service chocolate shop will open a second store in Dilworth. Located at 1235 A East Boulevard, in Kenilworth Commons, the East Blvd Harris Teeter shopping center, the company plans to open their doors the last week in August. The original Davidson Chocolate Co. is located in Davidson, NC.

“We are excited to bring hand-made chocolate to the Dilworth area, which has much of the same community pride, demographic, and aspects that make doing business in Davidson so enjoyable,” said John Elliott, Head Chocolatier. “We look forward to serving the Charlotte community.”

John and Sue Elliott founded their first family-run chocolate business in the North Carolina Mountains purely by accident while looking to buy a bed and breakfast in 2003. The Elliotts found making and selling chocolate a perfect fit to John’s 25 years in the food service industry and Sue’s business background.  In 2008, their son, John Jr., persuaded them to move to Davidson, NC where Davidson Chocolate Co. was born.

Davidson Chocolate Co. produces a full line of hand-crafted gourmet chocolate truffles, confections, fudge and Belgian chocolate brownies. Offerings include 17 truffle flavors, 25 different confections, seven fudge flavors, nine brownie types and five dessert features. Specialized seasonal and holiday items are available throughout the year.  In store, ice cream and hand spun milkshakes are sold daily. The company is also expanding their wedding, Internet and corporate business.
