Siemens Energy Inc. to move Nuclear
Instrumentation & Control Group to Charlotte

Siemens Energy Inc. has signed a lease at Innovation Park in the University Research Park, where it will relocate its nuclear instrumentation and control group from Alpharetta, GA. The company signed a lease for 17,000 square feet and plans to expand into an additional 15,000 square feet by year end.

The group performs all of Siemens’ instrumentation and control work for nuclear power plants in North America. The company plans to make the move in November.

It is anticipated that the project will create 15-25 jobs initially. This project follows on the heels of two other Siemens projects announced in Charlotte over the past 16 months. In May of 2009, the company announced an expansion at its Charlotte manufacturing facility that would create 226 new engineering and manufacturing jobs and invest $50 million in new equipment. In March of this year, the company announced that it was relocating its gas turbine manufacturing operations from Hamilton, Ontario to Charlotte and would be creating 825 new engineering and manufacturing jobs and invest $170 million to build and equip the new 500,000-square-foot plant.

Siemens Energy Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG (NYSE: SI), is a global leader in the energy industry covering the entire conversion chain from fuel production to power distribution.

The I&C group is headed by Michael Dunn who previously worked in Charlotte for Areva NP Inc., a division of French nuclear giant Areva which designs and builds power plants.

Blair Bryan and A.J. Whitehead of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Innovation Park’s owner, BECO in lease negotiations with Siemens.
