Bohle America opens in Charlotte
Bohle America Inc., a subsidiary of Bohle AG, Germany, has opened a U.S. sales, distribution and service center in Charlotte. The Bohle Group is Europe’s leading manufacturer of tools, machines and related accessories for processing and finishing glass. Products include manual glass cutting tools, industrial glass cutting wheels, fittings and hardware, vacuum lifters and ultraviolet adhesives for joining glass to other materials.
Bohle recently leased 10,000 sq. ft. in Granite Commerce Center near the Westinghouse Boulevard corridor in southwest Charlotte. Gareth Francey, an industry veteran who helped launch Bohle’s South African subsidiary in 2002, has relocated to the U.S. and serves as Bohle America’s Vice President of Sales. The company now employs 6 in Charlotte.
Gareth cites Charlotte’s central location and 6-hour time difference with Germany as factors in Bohle’s decision to launch the company’s initial U.S. operations here. He adds, “There are also many German firms located in and around Charlotte, and the cosmopolitan workforce allows access to a wide range of skilled candidates for employment.”
The Charlotte Chamber assisted Bohle America with various aspects of its U.S. start-up, including the identification of suitable flex space options.
