GEO Plastics to open Charlotte plant
GEO Plastics, a Los Angeles manufacturer of blow molded and injection molded parts for industry, will open an east coast production plant in Charlotte. The company recently purchased the former Jackson Tube building at 3801 Westinghouse Commons Drive, a 57,839 sq. ft. facility located in Westlake Corporate Campus in southwest Charlotte.
Doug Wynne of Perennial Commercial Real Estate represented GEO Plastics in its property search and purchase negotiations. Peter Bergen of KIRCO Realty Services Group represented the building owner.
During start-up this year, GEO Plastics expects to create 15 new jobs in Charlotte and expand to as many as 30 jobs in the next three years.
GEO Plastics founder and CEO Mike Morris cites Charlotte’s logistics infrastructure, competitive cost environment and proximity to key customers as reasons for locating the company’s east coast expansion here. Founded in 1992, GEO Plastics is known in particular for its application of advanced technology in the manufacture of uniquely shaped parts.
The Charlotte Chamber worked closely with GEO Plastics over much of the past year as the company evaluated Charlotte and other cities.
