Governor Bev Perdue announced today that HVM, L.L.C., manager of the Extended Stay Hotel chain, will relocate its corporate headquarters to Charlotte. Extended Stay Hotels comprises a number of well known brands of extended stay facilities, including Extended Stay America, Extended Stay Deluxe Hotels, Homestead Studio Suites, Crossland Economy Studios and StudioPlus. With 685 properties and 9,000 employees throughout the U.S. and Canada, Extended Stay is the largest network of company owned and operated extended stay facilities in North America.HVM’s relocation of U.S. and international headquarters from Spartanburg, SC is expected to generate 170 new jobs in Charlotte over the next three years with an average salary of $83,580. The company also projects an investment of $3.6 million in its new headquarters facility, which will provide shared corporate services for the Extended Stay network, including administrative, financial, marketing, human resources and facility maintenance support. HVM expects soon to sign a lease for 63,000 sq. ft. in the Everett Building at Ballantyne Corporate Park in south Charlotte. Jubal Early, Campbell Walker, Ted Haley and Carter Houchins of Lincoln Harris Charlotte assisted HVM in its search for office space and represent the company in current lease negotiations. Barry Fabyan represents the Bissell Companies, building owner. The Charlotte Chamber worked closely with the North Carolina Department of Commerce over several months as HVM, L.L.C. evaluated its location options. The North Carolina Community College System also supported the recruitment effort.
