Madrona Specialty Foods Moves into Charlotte
Madrona Specialty Foods announced today that they will open a North Charlotte manufacturing facility located at 6051 Lakeview Road in Lakeview Business Center. The 88,000 square-foot facility is the company’s first East Coast manufacturing and distribution location.
Madrona Specialty Foods is expected to be fully operational by August and initially will create 30 production and warehouse positions with projections of adding another 50 workers over the next three to five years. The company picked Charlotte because of its central location and accessibility to other key locations.
“We chose Charlotte because of its business friendly climate, reputation and easy airport access to our other locations in Seattle and Jamaica,” said Madrona President and Owner, Paul Pigott.
The new bakery lines will produce gourmet cookies and crackers, primarily La Panzanella crackers Madrona’s all natural line of Italian Croccantini. The company’s products are distributed to fine food stores such as Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and The Fresh Markets. They are also sold on Amazon.com. Most of their candy products are made in Jamaica.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Madrona Specialty Foods to Charlotte. Their decision to move here is yet another example of the continued growth in our manufacturing sector. We’re proud to have the award-winning La Panzanella brand produced by such a reputable company here in Charlotte,” said Bob Morgan, Charlotte Chamber President.
Madrona Specialty Foods is based in Tukwila, WA.
