Positec U.S. headquarters expands, relocates retail distribution facility, adds 30 new jobs

Positec Tool Corp., a Chinese power tool manufacturer has announced that it is moving its Charlotte-based North American headquarters into a new office location at 10130 Perimeter Parkway. The firm will also relocate its retail distribution facility from Santa Fe Springs, CA to about 120,000 sq. ft of industrial space in The Park at Huntersville. The expansion will add 30 new jobs.

Headquartered in Suzhou, China, Positec employs almost 4,000 people in 12 countries. The firm is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of power tools, lawn and garden equipment and accessories including the Rockwell and Worx product lines. Currently Positec has more than 100 employees in Charlotte.

“Having grown from just five employees to over 100 associates in Charlotte in the last five years, we ran out of expansion opportunities at our previous location,”  said Tom Duncan, President and CEO of Positec Tool Corp. “We wanted to design a new office space that offered us more functionality and flexibility while reflecting our energy and culture. It was also extremely important for us to stay in the North Charlotte area in order to minimize the impact on employee commutes and continue our long-term commitment to the greater Charlotte community.”

“We see significant benefits from being able to service our key retail partners from an East Coast facility, and Charlotte offers an ideal location to take advantage of those efficiencies,” says Paul Tellefsen, CEO/COO for Positec Tool Corp.

“We would like to thank Positec’s commitment to our community,” said Bob Morgan, Charlotte Chamber President. “Positec’s continued growth in Charlotte is impressive. Today’s announcement confirms that our business climate — including a cost of living that is 93 percent of the national average, a skilled and growing workforce, a large and growing Charlotte airport — remains competitive and attractive.”
