Panthers President Danny Morrison spoke before a crowd of more than 150 people at the SouthPark Chapter's luncheon on February 14. Morrison told the group he's excited about what the future holds for the team. With Ron Rivera as head coach, Cam Newton as NFL Rookie of the Year and fans reinvigorated in 2011, Morrison expects to see the team come back even stronger in 2012.
Changes for the Panthers organization next season will go beyond the rooster and a new head coach. Morrison said a comprehensive stadium improvement plan is slated to be complete. "We've been in a year-long process with the NFL to look at what we can do over the next 10 years but I still think we have one of the best stadiums in the league.”
As bullish as he is about next season, Morrison knows it won’t be any easy accomplishment. Even tougher is achieving owner Jerry Richardson’s dream, “What really drives Jerry nuts,” Morrison said, “Is that despite all that they have done, the Panthers haven’t had sustained excellence.”
