XPO Logistics to Open Operations Center Creating Over 200 Jobs

North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue announced today that XPO Logistics, Inc. will open a North American Operations Center in Charlotte.  XPO Logistics, a third party transportation logistics provider, is headquartered in Buchanan, Michigan. The company will create over 200 jobs in the functions of accounting and finance, human resources, IT, brokerage, and carrier procurement and operations, with an average wage of more than $56,606 annually. The company is currently in lease negotiations for Charlotte office space.

“I am thrilled to welcome XPO Logistics’ North American Operations Center to Charlotte and the more than 200 jobs the company will bring to our area.  This announcement clearly strengthens Charlotte’s reputation as a distribution hub,” said Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx.  “XPO Logistics’ North American Operations Center is well positioned to leverage Charlotte’s integrated transportation network and talented workforce to enhance their company and our community.”

XPO Logistics is a non-asset based, third-party logistics provider of freight transportation services that uses a network of relationships with ground, sea and air carriers to offer expedited services, freight forwarding and freight brokerage to customers in North America. The Michigan-based company recently embarked on an aggressive plan for growth that will be supported by its new North American Operations Center in Charlotte.

Sean Fernandez, chief operating officer for XPO Logistics, said “We are extremely pleased that the state has been so supportive of our plans to centralize key operations in Charlotte. XPO Logistics is growing quickly, and the new center will give us the infrastructure we need to support a much larger company. We expect to start hiring across all functions immediately.”

Edwin Yarbrough and Tim Brotherton with CRESAPartners are representing XPO Logistics in lease negotiations.

The Charlotte Chamber would like to thank Governor Beverly Perdue, N.C. Department of Commerce, and NC Community Colleges for their assistance and support to this important project.
