Charlotte energy sector company
undertakes major expansion
CoaLogix, North America’s leading provider of SCR management and catalyst regeneration technologies, has launched a major expansion of its local operations. The Charlotte-based company, through its subsidiary SCR-Tech LLC, recently leased 211,250 sq. ft. of storage and handling space at 11701 Goodrich Drive near the Westinghouse Boulevard corridor.
SCR-Tech also plans to double the capacity of its catalyst regeneration facility at 11707 Steele Creek Road for the second time since opening that facility two years ago. Catalysts are used by coal and gas-fired power plants to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
Brad Cherry and Pete Pittroff of Jones Lang LaSalle represented CoaLogix in lease negotiations at the Goodrich Drive location. Terry Brennan and Bill Wood of Trinity Partners represented the building owner.
CoaLogix employs 110 in its Charlotte facilities. The expansions at Goodrich Drive and Steele Creek Road include the relocation of the company’s original footprint at Clariant Corporation’s Mount Holly East complex in northwest Mecklenburg County. Management expects the current expansion of plant and storage operations to boost Charlotte headcount by 20 percent to 50 percent.
After initially considering Ohio as a second operations base, CoaLogix opted for expansion in Charlotte. “In the end,” says CEO Bill McMahon, “we chose Charlotte due to this city’s excellent workforce, our close relationships with vendors, and the high quality of life here. We are also very committed to Charlotte’s energy hub and its further growth.”
