Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Statement regarding Duke Energy

by Bob Morgan, Charlotte Chamber CEO & Frank Emory, Charlotte Chamber Chairman

Duke Energy has been a pillar of the Charlotte business community for years, and they’ve been critical in attracting new businesses to the area – both through their involvement with the Charlotte Chamber and by providing these new companies with reliable and affordable electricity.

Brett Carter, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president is a current board member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and he is one of many Duke Energy employees who have been active in our organization. Simply put, these are good corporate citizens who give back to their communities and who are invested in making North Carolina a better place in which to live and do business.

With more resources and expertise available through the merger with Progress Energy, the combined company will be able to do for our state as a whole, and our economy will be better served by the new Duke Energy.

Sincerely,
