Charlotte Chamber economic developer Kati Hynes has been honored by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Charlotte as commercial real estate person of the year. She accepted the award and was the keynote speaker at the organization's Excellence Awards at The Ritz-Carlton on Tuesday.
As an economic developer for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Kati has been directly involved in recruiting new industries and business to Charlotte for more than 12 years. She works closely with relocating and expanding company officials to educate them on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg market and business climate as well as introduce them to the many opportunities available in this community.
Between January 2011 and November 2012, Kati was responsible for creating more than 4,300 jobs, $226 million in capital investment and 1,242,000 square feet of commercial space in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. She and her team (The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Division) were honored by Site Selection Magazine as one of the Top 10 Economic Development Groups in the nation in both 2009 and 2010. This is no small feat as the Charlotte Chamber was selected from more than 15,000 economic development agencies around the country. Additionally, Atlas Advertising awarded the team the Gold Medal as the highest performing economic development organization for communities in the 250,000 to 1 million population range for 2011 to 2012.
