Kathleen Byrne works with the Alliance’s economic development team to market the Charlotte region and the premier location for business. She lends the team support administratively in addition to planning the logistics for economic development missions, trade shows, conferences, events and client visits.

Kathleen began her career at the Alliance in 2006 in the film department before moving into special events before her current role in the economic recruitment department. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Producing from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky.

Since late 2007, Eileen serves as the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s point person for foreign direct investment from Asia. She is responsible for developing and executing the Alliance’s Asian recruitment strategy. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, she plays a direct role in bringing Chinese and other Asian companies to the Charlotte region. Eileen conducts annual recruitment missions to Asia and has a proven track record of developing strong networks in China.

Eileen’s economic development experience covers a wide range of activities and responsibilities: lead generation and project management; financial incentive negotiations; business location consulting and site selection; serving as interface between investors and strategic partners, including local governments, the State of North Carolina, professional services firms, real estate brokers, and site consultants; development of marketing materials; and in-depth knowledge of Charlotte’s business environment including labor force, commercial real estate, taxation, education, transportation, training resources and manufacturing infrastructure.

Eileen is also responsible for the recruitment of domestic projects and all sizes and types of business, including both office and manufacturing projects. Since joining the Alliance, Eileen has been responsible for more than 140 landed projects, 80 of those are international firms, creating over 9,000 jobs and $800 million investments. Her past client list includes a mix of international and U.S. companies such as Time Warner Cable, Mitsubishi (MNES), Combi, Greenspring Energy, Jetion Solar, Yu Consulting, Zenta, Master Work, Positec, TSP Tooling, Anderson America, Rack Room Shoes, Pactera Technology International, Keer America, HangCha Forklift and Yokohama Tire.

Eileen brings to the Alliance a broad business background that includes five years in real estate development, sales and marketing in China. She holds B.S. degrees in Accounting and Business Administration (State University of New York), and Business Management from (TiaoTong University, Shanghai, China).

Sven’s responsibilities as an economic recruiter are focused on foreign direct investment attraction from Europe and India as well as working with North American and domestic projects. Services include location marketing and attraction, client and project management, business location consulting and site selection, negotiation of financial incentives and transaction agreements, human resource development and recruiting, arranging professional services for investors, and interfacing between the investor and the state and local governments. Sven has ten years of experience in lead and project generation for rural communities paired with over six years of urban and high growth economic development.

Sven joined the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance (former Charlotte Chamber of Commerce) in September 2012. Prior to joining the Alliance, Sven held the post of managing director of the State of West Virginia European Office in Munich, Germany and has worked in economic development and FDI attraction to the United States for more than 16 years. Since joining the Charlotte Alliance, Sven has been responsible for more than 100 announced projects creating more than 8,300 jobs and $600 million in investment including 65 European projects.

During his tenure with the Charlotte Alliance and the West Virginia European Office, Sven has developed a strong network of lead sources across Europe and India as well as in the United States. Sven organizes investment seminars across Europe on a regular level, involving many local partners, including US Embassies, local Chambers of Commerce, industry associations, and private sector multipliers, such as logistics companies, law firms, CPAs, recruiting firms, insurance companies and banks.

He also served as vice president of the Council of American States in Europe (predecessor to SelectUSA in Europe), representing the interests of all American states in Europe with national, regional and local governments and private sector associations. Sven is on the board of the German-American Chamber of Commerce Carolinas Chapter; American Council on Germany North Carolina Chapter; the Deutsche Schule Charlotte (German School Charlotte) and was appointed by the Charlotte City Council to serve on the City of Charlotte International Cabinet.

Sven is a native of Munich, Germany and holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of South Carolina. He has lived in Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States; is bilingual in German and English, proficient in French, and has family in India, Germany and the United States.

Kati Hynes role with the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance (formerly the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce) focuses on both recruitment and project management, as well as regional marketing and attraction to strengthen economic competitiveness for the two-state, 15-county Charlotte region.

Hynes 19 years of economic development experience working with new and expanding businesses covers a broad spectrum of roles and responsibilities. Services offered to her clients include lead generation and project management; business location consulting and site selection; financial incentive assistance; and connecting clients to state and local governments, professional services firms, commercial and residential real estate firms, site selection consultants and other strategic partners. The Alliance also provides in-depth information on education, transportation and infrastructure, training and talent development, demographic data and more.

Hynes most recent work at the Charlotte Chamber focused on recruitment and project management where she worked office and industrial projects across a wide variety of industries resulting in 365 landed projects, 34,000 jobs, 3.4 billion in capital investment and 14 million square feet of commercial office space for Mecklenburg County. Hynes has worked with recognizable companies such as Albemarle Corporation, Amazon, AvidXchange, AXA, Chiquita, Cognizant, Corning Optical, EY, Frito-Lay, Honeywell, JELD-WEN, Kellogg’s, Krispy Kreme, LendingTree, MetLife (Brighthouse), Sealed Air, SPX, US Airways (American Airlines), Walmart and Westinghouse.

Hynes joined the Charlotte Chamber in April 2000 as director of economic development, promoted to vice president in 2005 and promoted to manage the economic development team in 2017. Prior to joining the Alliance, Hynes served in various roles at Browning Ferris Industries, MGM/UA (movie production), Mattel, Inc. and the Carolina Panthers (NFL). A native of Colorado, Hynes attended the University of Arizona and graduated from Colorado State University.

Hynes has completed the Basic Economic Development Course at the University of North Carolina and is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute (EDI) at the University of Oklahoma. She is a member of the North Carolina Economic Developers Association (NCEDA), Charlotte Regional Commercial Board of Realtors (CRCBR), Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and Women Executives (WE). She also sits on the University City Partners and Lake Norman Economic Development Boards.

Hynes was awarded the Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award in 2002 and its Women in Business award in 2012, Commercial Real Estate Women’s (CREW) Networking Deal of the Year and its Person of the Year award in 2012, Mecklenburg Times’ 50 Most Influential Women in 2013 and Consultant Connect North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers in 2017. She was also recognized as Charlotte Agenda’s 10 Most Powerful People in Charlotte Development Who are Not Developers in 2018.

Steven Pearce works directly with site selection decision makers to represent the Charlotte region as the premier location for business. He leads travel to domestic and international markets for the purpose of recruiting new jobs and investment. Additionally, Steven engages in strategic planning through leveraging the Alliance’s resources to create and implement an economic development program of work and budget. Throughout the project management process Steven coordinates resources in response to clients’ needs from initial request to successful location. Additionally, he leverages the collaborative strengths of regional economic development stakeholders to proactively enhance the client experience.

Steven joined the Alliance in 2015 as Director of Research before becoming Project Manager in July 2016. Prior, Steven served as Director of Marketing & Communications with the NCEast Alliance where he assisted in representing the diverse economic interests of 26 counties in eastern NC. He has worked on the community college level as a WorkKeys administrator, responsible for developing the program’s use for the business community and the public.

Steven holds a Master of Business Administration and bachelor’s in Marketing from East Carolina University.

Marvin serves as the Vice President, Economic Recruitment for the newly formed Charlotte Regional Business Alliance -- representing the 15-county region known as Charlotte USA. Marvin has lead the efforts resulting in recent notable wins, including: 1-800 Contacts, LKQ Corporation, Honeywell, Technogym, Pac Racing Springs, DHOLLANDIA MFT and MEXTY.

Previously, Marvin served as Business Development Representative for Spire, the fifth-largest natural gas utility in the United States. He also served as Project Manager for the Birmingham Business Alliance where his efforts resulted in more than $250 million in capital investment and over 2,000 jobs.

Marvin is the recipient of many industry and professional awards, including: 2019 DCI 40 Under 40 in Economic Development, 2018 North Carolina Economic Development Association’s Emerging Executive Award and the 2018 Consultant Connect Top 50 Economic Developers Award. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Montevallo and a master’s degree in community planning from Auburn University. Marvin, a Birmingham native, currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
