On June 20, more than 120 business and civic leaders will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for the Charlotte Chamber's annual Inter City Visit.
As the 17th largest economy in the world, Atlanta's industry makeup consists primarily of finance, health care and biomedical, and manufacturing. The city is home to the fourth-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation, including Delta Air Lines, The Coca-Cola Company, Home Depot, United Parcel Service, AT&T Mobility and Newell Rubbermaid.
Atlanta's transportation infrastructure comprises a complex network that includes a heavy rail rapid transit system, a light rail streetcar loop, a multi-county bus system, Amtrak service via the Crescent, multiple freight train lines, an interstate Highway System, several airports, including the world's busiest, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Atlanta is home to four professional franchises for major team sports and is a host to many various international, professional and collegiate sporting events, including the Centennial 1996 Summer Olympics.
Major pillars of the trip will focus around Transportation and Infrastructure, Affordable Housing, Sports, including Amateur sports, Education, Talent Development and Attraction, and Economic Development.
