Healthy Charlotte Council Hits the Road

The Charlotte Chamber’s Healthy Charlotte Council hosted its quarterly event at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden June 15. Naturopathic physician Dr. David Hamilton discussed the critical link between nutrition/food consumption and one's overall health. Check out his presentation here. 

D. Harding Stowe, chairman of the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden Board, also shared details of the garden’s newly developed Healthy Employee Membership Program. 

Meantime, the Healthy Charlotte Executive Committee provided an update on program activities. Here are a few highlights:


•Fostering Healthier Food & Beverage Choices = 32 companies with 32,034 employees
•Increasing Physical Activity = 31 companies with 64,962 employees 
•Reducing Tobacco Use = 19 companies with 31,675 employees

•Try It Tuesday Participation = 647 individuals
•Walking Wednesday Participation = 2,187 individuals

Media Results:
Newsletters: Collectively reached 93,400 individuals.
•Charlotte Five had Walking Wednesdays as its top story on May 3, reaching 58,400 subscribers.
•Charlotte Chamber had three articles in C2 Weekly newsletter reaching 35,000 subscribers.
